[ it's a nice day, though most of their days together are nice, even if the clouds are out and there's a chilly tinged to the air. at least, haiga thinks so. today's bright and sunny, but not overly so. just a normal afternoon. ]

Hien.

[ haiga doesn't say his name too loudly. he'd like it if hien woke up easy, instead of startling.

is it cheating if his chest warms with the guilty pleasure of being allowed the privilege of waking his senpai up? it's his secret for now. it's harmless isn't it? he itches to touch, but doesn't. see, harmless. ]

Hey, time for lunch.

[ For the most part, Hien hasn't changed his routine much. Haiga would mostly see him sleeping in bed or playing video games on his handheld. He finds himself chatting with Haiga every so often about the most mundane things too. How was his day? Did he have fun? Wonder what's for dinner today?

Anyway, this guy sure loves sleeping... Haiga will eventually find out that Hien has something like a daze period right after he wakes up in which he can barely stay conscious until his five(? there could be more) cups of coffee. Wouldn't an energy drink suffice? He likes coffee much better, usually mixed with hazelnut creamer.

Since it's the afternoon, Hien finally wakes from the sound of Haiga's voice, his eyes gradually opening, squinting because of the daylight. He yawns and stretches that's a bit reminiscent of a cat. Nnnnnngh. ]

Lunch...? What are we having...

[ hien can help himself to the mug of coffee waiting on his bedside table. sorry, it's just one. ]

I thought we could eat out together.

[ it should be a question - he hasn't asked hien to free up any time for him or anything. but... it's not. he'll insist if he has to, though he knows his easygoing senpai will (probably) agree.

he sinks down to a crouch by hien's bed, hands crossed over his knees. it's the same urge, he's sure, of needing to pet a purring cat. he shouldn't but there's that itch. crossing his arms help. peering at a fluffy, waking hien also helps - kinda. ]

... Just us. There's a place that does carbonara pretty good.

[ Hien finally sits up, yawning again. He's going to yawn at least five more times after this, he thinks. The mug of coffee sits there on the bedside table and he reaches out to grab it by the handle and



promptly chugs it regardless of the temperature. ]

That's some good coffee. I'm a bit more awake... what's the temperature looking outside?

[ said with a grin because c’mon that was cute. so cute. ]

It’s nice today, not bad.

Oh, good. That means I can wear a t-shirt with a hoodie.

[ Despite how Haiga just said that they're going out for carbonara. It's fine. For Hien, Casual Friday is every day. He finally gets out of bed, stretches with his arms up in the air again, yawns, and looks over to the closet. ]

Mm. I'll do my routine and we can go.

[ Washing his face, changing clothes, etc. ]

[ seeing a fluffy hien kinda helps also means it kinda doesn’t help. ah, he has - haiga reaches out and brushes a tuft of flyaway down with his fingers. the dark strands look stark against his fingers and he lingers for a split second.

then he pulls away, sighing at himself (weak, man. so weak.) and stands. ]

The situation seems kinda hopeless there, Hien.

[ the situation that is hien’s hair, he means. ]

I’ll get you another cup while you get ready.

[ back to the communal lounge he goes, leaving hien to get ready in peace. ]

[ Oh, his hair. No matter. He waves his hand as if to say not to worry about it. When Haiga returns from the communal lounge, Hien is all ready to go. Fast. ]

You wanna walk, go by bus, or car?

[ he’s the opposite of worried, unfortunately.

anyway when he returns, he passes hien another cup of coffee, just as hot in one of those disposable cups the dorm stocks up on. now that hien’s a little more awake, he’ll notice haiga’s dressed just as casually though he does try to style himself a bit. he wears a light colored hoodie and an oversized button up underneath with the hems untucked. his dark jeans emphasize his height, though that wasn’t on purpose. it just happens. ]

Up to you if you’re willing to drive us.

[ Tall boy... Hien likes what he sees now that he can actually focus. Nice legs. His eyes linger a bit before he looks away while drinking his cup of coffee. ]

I don't mind driving--

[ He looks down at his phone and pauses. Then he raises his head to look at Haiga. ]

... Yeah, we're driving.

[ He swipes the keys from the bedside table. Let's go. ]

[ if that’s what hien wants? what was that pause? ]

‘Kay.

[ as they walk side by side down the hall and to the parking lot, haiga wonders how they appear to the students they pass. do they look like two regular guys - classmates maybe, friends maybe - just walking together? is there anyone who looks at them and thinks ‘oh, they’re together.’ not that they are… he guesses it’s not anyone’s first thought. ]

Dream anything fun?

[ He didn't think Haiga would be the one who'd be paying... Hien's a simple guy, but he won't go against Haiga if he really wants to pay. But he also has to consider limiting what he wants to eat. It's not his money to waste.

Those are his only thoughts as they walk to the parking lot outside the dorms. It's a decent car, nothing too old nor new. To Hien, it's just a means of transportation. He gets in the driver's seat after unlocking the door. Haiga can choose to sit in the passenger's seat in the front or back. ]

Not really. I don't remember what I usually dream about. What about you?

[ naturally he slides in next to hien. ]

Hmmm… I think it must have been good ‘cause you sleep like the dead all the time. Me? I was too nervous to sleep much, but I usually remember my dreams.

Dreams just feel like there's a black screen and that's it... maybe they're being censored for whatever reason.

[ After seatbelts are buckled, Hien drives smoothly out of campus. He's already memorized the pathway to the restaurant that Haiga sent to him earlier, so he doesn't have to look at his phone while driving. ]

What were you nervous for?

[ his fingers drum against his thigh. he’s still nervous. ]

For today. For tomorrow.

[ being trapped in a moving car makes it worse - but also better because he has to commit. ]

… Want to go on a date with me?

[ Hien, completely oblivious as to what Haiga would be nervous about even after this: ]

[ He's just thinking that wherever Haiga wants/needs to go is what's making him nervous. ]

[ hien’s reply is so quick and casual that it takes haiga a solid minute to catch on.

[ Hien's confusion is obvious despite his lack of expression. ]

Why are you surprised? Isn't this pretty much a date as it is? We're going on two outings in a row.

[ but he sounds confused as he says it. lunch, just the two of them, with him paying?? it was kinda sneaky obvious, and he was working up to asking for real - but wait why did hien say yes? what ]

[ Though Haiga might want to check with Hien as to what sort of "like" he might be talking about, because while it can be hard to tell due to his usual chill attitude, he really thinks of a date as a casual outing between friends. And like? Yeah, he likes his roommate. Haiga is cute and Hien feels endeared to him, but to raise that to a romantic relationship? It's hard to tell.

He continues to drive. ]

he covers his face and sighs. with that response? he figured. there were moments he thought, ‘maybe. maybe he sees me. maybe he sees my feelings.’

he’s not gonna give up, but he does wonder if he has to overshare to clue hien in on his feelings. he’s definitely not the type of give up; once he fixates on an idea - on a person - his mind has a hard time letting go. stubborn or just stupid, yeah that’s him. ]

I guess I’m glad you do. Take it easy on my poor heart though, won’t you?

[ his pretty senpai is definitely a heartbreaker… thinks haiga, oblivious heartbreaker.

but he is very, very pretty and right now? very cute.

haiga quickly glances around as he unbuckles his seatbelt. it’s clear so here goes nothing. the kiss itself is silent as he breaks into hien’s bubble and closes the distance between them. it’s quick, just a firm undeniably press of lips. his heart is thundering. he can hardly hear his own murmured confession. ]

I like you.

[ then he escapes from the car. okbye. ]

[ Hien is quiet after that kiss. He really should have seen it coming, but he didn't and now he's paying for it. Even after long Haiga escapes from the car, Hien sits there, wondering what just happened.

But did Haiga consider that they'll be stuck together as they eat?

Hien turns the car off and gets out, and then leads Haiga into the restaurant building, if he's still outside. He doesn't say anything, but he looks very obviously dazed. ]

he sure did because while hien was sleeping peacefully, this was his brain all night.

he follows hien silently because he’s still paying for this date. he doesn’t think he’s ever seen hien this dazed, nothing outside of waking up at least. he didn’t get an immediate answer to his confession, which sits heavy in his stomach, but he tells himself it’s early yet. it’s not over until - well.

and if anything, his senpai is kind. hopefully the rejection isn’t too brutal. ]
